critical home repairs
Living in a safe and secure home is a fundamental need. However, the cost of upkeep and repair can be significant. Without this upkeep, homes can deteriorate significantly. The problem is compounded when homeowner age, limits to mobility and the effect of severe weather seasons become factors.
James Island Outreach’s Home Repairs and Accessibility Team (HART) strives to help our clients with critical repairs to ensure that they will feel safe in their homes and will be able to continue to live in the community in which they, and their families, love and are so well connected.
Critical Home Repairs projects include: Roof, structural flooring, Accessibility (stairs and ramps), windows and doors, some plumbing and habitability repairs.
Ineligible projects: drywall repair, landscaping, sheds/outbuildings, HVAC systems, interior design or appearance items.
Program eligibility requirements:
1. James Island Outreach client
2. Resident of James Island (29412) or Folly Beach (29439)

4. Own the home or property. Tenants may be eligible with homeowner’s written permission.
5. Cost of repairs is within JIO available funds per project, and is reasonable when compared to home’s total value
